The menu is basic pub fare, some with a twist (tacos with mango and pineapple salsa). It's good-average. Given the association with the culinary program at the college, I was... read more expecting more, but to be honest I'm not familiar with the focus of the program. We enjoyed a starter of pretzels and cheese dip. The dip had a mild beer flavor, which I liked. The chicken on my crispy chicken salad was a bit oil-sogged. However, the chicken on the taco was small bite-sized and tender.
The bartender was friendly and knowledgable about the frequently-rotating selection of drafts, which although small (about a dozen) had a good variety.
The atmosphere was somewhat sparse. My recollection is just booths around the sides and few if any free-standing tables (covid?). This left a large open space in the center, which was off-putting.
I'm an alumnus, and wanted to support the program. I would return.
Suggestions as an alum supporter: As part of a culinary program, the restaurant could up its game in terms of ambiance. Even if it's near closing, I do not want to see evidence of cleaning getting underway (a staff member rolled a mop bucket across the middle of the room). Lastly, the entrance is underwhelming (I wasn't sure the main door actually was the main entrance), and the entry way is rather austere.
This restaurant gives students at the local college the chance to learn about the restaurant industry "on the job" and that is a worthwhile goal to support. So go ahead... read more and give it a try. Just keep in mind that they are learning how to manage this sort of establishment and you're there to support them, not the other way around.
First, the staff was friendly and helpful, prices as expected but the purpose of my review is to help them improve. Presentation was average that of a diner. The chicken... read more Riggies should be served w a whole grilled breast, pasta serving was underwhelming. Potatoes for fries were cut from very small potatoes resulting in mostly skins. The calamari was good and Chili sauce outstanding, but please put sauce in a small cup. Fish was good. Finally, use a glass for water, not a compote and for goodness sake put salt and pepper on table. Overall, the environment was conflicted, it is actually an upscale cafeteria for the students. I hope it improves.
